The Philippines has decided to extend its visa-free entry scheme for travelers from Taiwan, allowing them to visit the country without a visa for up to 14 days until June 30 of next year. This initiative, which was introduced last year, aims to boost tourism and enhance cultural and personal exchanges between the two nations. Visitors planning to stay longer than the initial two-week period will be required to obtain a visa prior to their arrival.
This policy extension aligns with the Philippine government’s commitment to maintaining reciprocal visa arrangements, as Taiwan also extends visa-free entry to visitors from the Philippines. By continuing this mutual agreement, both countries hope to facilitate easier travel and foster stronger bilateral relations.
To further entice Taiwanese tourists, the Philippines is working on increasing flight connections and promoting travel destinations beyond the well-known spots like Palawan. The country aims to showcase a broader range of regions and unique travel experiences to attract more visitors from Taiwan.
The effort seems to be paying off, as tourism data reveals that nearly 94,000 Taiwanese visited the Philippines in the first five months of this year, marking an increase compared to the same period last year. This growth positions Taiwan as one of the leading sources of international tourists for the Philippines.
