Singapore and UAE Leaders Discuss Enhanced Business and Investment Opportunities

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has emphasized the importance of enhancing business and investment relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), pointing out significant opportunities for companies and investors from both nations. During his visit to Abu Dhabi on October 20, Wong engaged with UAE business leaders to discuss potential areas of cooperation.

Following a meeting with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Prime Minister Wong highlighted several sectors where Singapore and the UAE could collaborate. These include energy, with the UAE’s expertise in oil, gas, renewable energy, and nuclear power, and its growing investments in artificial intelligence and defense technology. Wong suggested that these sectors present opportunities for both countries to leverage their strengths and form new partnerships.

The economic relationship between Singapore and the UAE is already substantial. In 2025, bilateral trade in goods reached $27.9 billion, and trade in services totaled $12.8 billion in 2024, positioning the UAE as Singapore’s largest trading partner in the Middle East. This robust trade relationship underscores the potential for even greater collaboration.

Both countries have been actively working to strengthen their economic ties through bilateral business forums and investment initiatives. The discussions in Abu Dhabi reflect a shared commitment to expanding commercial links and exploring new opportunities in response to evolving global economic conditions.
