Spider-Man: Brand New Day Opens Globally with $927M, Second-Biggest Debut

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has achieved an extraordinary milestone in its opening weekend, raking in an estimated $927 million globally within just four days. This monumental debut marks the second-highest worldwide opening in cinema history, placing it right behind “Avengers: Endgame,” which set a record with a $1.2 billion debut in 2019.

Domestically, the film amassed $355 million in North America over the weekend, slightly shy of the national record of $357.1 million held by “Avengers: Endgame.” Internationally, the superhero epic generated $572 million from 66 different markets. China led these international earnings with $121 million, with notable contributions from the United Kingdom ($49 million), Mexico ($38.3 million), and South Korea ($25 million).

In addition to these impressive figures, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” shattered opening weekend records in several countries. In India, the film achieved the biggest-ever opening for a Hollywood film, bringing in $31.8 million. Other significant earnings included $26.6 million in France, $23.8 million in Brazil, and $15.6 million in Spain. The film’s opening weekend performance easily surpassed the openings of both “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which grossed $600 million globally, and “Avengers: Infinity War,” which debuted at $640 million worldwide.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film picks up four years after the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” It follows Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, as he attempts to rebuild his life in a world that has forgotten his true identity. Along the way, Parker must face a new, mysterious threat with the assistance of some surprising allies. The film features a star-studded cast, including Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo.
